We have had another busy few weeks behind us and again had the pleasure of welcoming more divers into the growing community of Horizon SCR divers in Indonesia.

This course was very special as we were teaching the first Indonesian woman. Welcome to Angela who successfully passed the SSI SCR Horizon Diver level course with us. Angela who is training to be an SSI Dive Professional took the opportunity to gain more knowledge and experience as well as enjoy the freedom of rebreather diving after getting a taste for SCR on our recent demo days in Jakarta.

Immediately falling in love with the silence and the breathing Angela who is also a keen free diver and mono fin said the SCR was something of an extension of the feeling those disciplines give her.

4 days of long hours learning how the Horizon works and putting both diver and machine through there paces, both physically and mentally. More knowledge was gained with regards to decompression theory as well as gradient factors with the emphasis on increasing safety margins and understanding how to utilize this depending on your dive objective.

Happy to say that all the hard work paid of and Angela and her team mate Rafi passed the course and immediately continued the adventure by opting to do a few more dives to solidify the skills and confidence as well as actually enjoy some fun diving outside the constraints of a training course (especially a demanding training course that you have come to expect from Tekdeep).

The intent of the SSI XR SCR Diver program is to train divers to independently plan and conduct dives to a maximum 30m within No Decompression Limits with an equally or more qualified team mate. Like all XR programs, the modern approach of teaching is not just reserved to the practical work but also the theory, which incorporates the latest concepts and medical updates as well as focusing on team diving practices. Once you have grasped the fundamentals of SCR diving it is a simple process to upgrade your certification to the XR deco level and really extend your horizons.

The XR Extended Range SCR program allows you to plan and conduct dives to maximum 40m and incurring 25mins of possible decompression stoppage time whilst using 2 gasses and accelerated decompression techniques.

If you are looking at getting into SCR diving then send us a message.
